May 5, (V7N) — Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed authorities to urgently repair neglected roads in Pirojpur district to ensure smooth vehicular movement and reduce public suffering.
The instruction came during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Cabinet Division, where progress and challenges of ongoing LGED development projects in Pirojpur were reviewed.
According to a PMO press release, the Prime Minister stressed that roads long left in poor condition must be brought under immediate repair and renovation programs. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted road communication system nationwide.
Officials briefed the Prime Minister on the current status of LGED projects in Pirojpur. The meeting also discussed irregularities and corruption allegations in project implementation during the previous Awami League government, with reports that some local MPs and officials were involved.
Tarique Rahman emphasized transparency and accountability in future development activities. He instructed relevant departments to take swift and effective measures to improve road conditions in Pirojpur.
The meeting was attended by State Minister for LGRD Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Public Works Ahmed Sohel Manzur (Pirojpur‑2 MP), Pirojpur‑1 MP Masood Sayeedi, Pirojpur‑3 MP Ruhul Amin Dulal, Local Government Division Secretary Shahidul Hasan, and other senior officials.
