Dhaka, May 05 (V7N) – Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam has said that the current government is avoiding large-scale mega projects without proper preparation, unlike previous administrations.
He made the remarks at a discussion meeting held at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday morning (May 5).
The minister said the government discourages projects that do not ensure proper investment planning or long-term benefits. “Projects that directly benefit the people will be given priority,” he added.
He further stated that the proposed Dhaka East-West Elevated Expressway would bring a major transformation in Bangladesh’s communication system. According to him, the expressway will connect Sylhet and Chittagong with Barisal and northern regions while bypassing Dhaka, helping reduce congestion in the capital.
Sheikh Rabiul Alam also cautioned that projects without timely execution and proper cost management could become a burden on the national economy.
