London, April 30 (V7N) — Anger and concern are growing within London’s Jewish community following a series of antisemitic incidents, culminating in a stabbing attack that left two men seriously injured in North London.
The victims, aged 76 and 34, were attacked on Wednesday in Golders Green, an area known for its large Jewish population. Authorities confirmed that a 45-year-old suspect was quickly arrested. The two Injured men remain hospitalized in stable condition.
The Metropolitan Police have classified the assault as a “terrorist incident,” marking a significant escalation in recent weeks of targeted hostility. Officials noted that while previous attacks mainly caused property damage, this incident directly targeted individuals, raising serious security concerns.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the attack as deeply alarming and stressed the need for firm action against hate-driven violence. London Mayor Sadiq Khan also condemned the incident and confirmed increased police patrols in affected neighborhoods.
The stabbing follows several recent attacks linked to antisemitism. On March 23, four ambulances belonging to the Jewish charity Hatzola were destroyed in a fire in the same area. On April 15, petrol-filled bottles were thrown at a synagogue in Finchley. Two days later, a Jewish charity building in Hendon was also targeted in a similar attack. Additionally, Volant Media, the parent company of Iran International TV, was recently attacked.
Community leaders say the pattern of incidents has heightened fear among residents and are calling for stronger protection measures. Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the latest attack, while counterterrorism units remain actively involved.
