RAJSHAHI, May 5, (V7N) — Concerns have surfaced over the use of substandard materials in the internal road construction of the Nohata Local Supply Depot (LSD) godown in Paba upazila, Rajshahi. The project, costing about Tk 88 lakh, is intended to strengthen infrastructure at a key food grain storage facility.
Local sources allege that poor-quality materials are being used, raising fears that the road may crack soon after completion, posing risks to heavy trucks and long-term durability.
Contractor Md. Nafi denied the allegations, stating that rods were placed at 4-inch intervals and stones were used according to regulations. Godown in-charge Md. Mizan Hossain said he is supervising the work, but overall responsibility lies with Regional Maintenance Officer Engineer Md. Firoz Ahmed, who confirmed that 10 mm rods are being used on one side and 8 mm rods on the other. He insisted there are no irregularities and invited observers to witness the work.
