Pabna , May 4, (V7N) — Tensions flared in Bhangura upazila of Pabna as villagers staged a protest against Mofazzal Hossain Sagar, principal of Khanmarich Technical and Business Management College, accusing him of taking Tk 2.1 million in bribes in exchange for jobs but failing to deliver.

More than a hundred villagers, including four job seekers, formed a human chain in front of the college Monday afternoon. They later raised brooms in protest and briefly detained the principal before police intervened to free him. Protesters alleged that Sagar accepted Tk 700,000 from Limon Hossain and Tk 200,000 from Helal Uddin, promising them employment, but instead appointed Enamul Haque from his own area after reportedly taking Tk 1.2 million.

Victims said, “Either he will give us jobs or return the money.” They also claimed the principal had previously taken Tk 600,000 each from two other candidates for office assistant and computer operator posts without providing jobs.

Principal Sagar denied the allegations, calling them “false and fabricated,” and insisted appointments were made transparently. Md. Arifuzzaman, UNO of Bhangura and president of the college, said no written complaint had been submitted yet but assured that an investigation would be launched if one is filed.

The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who demand accountability and the return of the money.
