Death Confirmed by Doctors

Earlier, Dr. Abdul Ahad, a member of the neurosurgery team at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed Hadi’s death. He said the information was received from the neurosurgical team of Singapore General Hospital, adding that Sharif Osman Hadi died at around 9:30 am (Bangladesh time).

The news of his death was also shared on Hadi’s verified Facebook page and the official page of Inqilab Manch, where he was described as “a great revolutionary” and referred to as a martyr.

Background of the Attack

Sharif Osman Hadi was shot on December 12 while traveling to the Bijoynagar area of the capital to attend a public meeting. According to eyewitnesses, two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at close range and fled the scene.

The bullet hit his head, leaving him critically injured. He was immediately rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was later transferred to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for advanced care and subsequently airlifted to Singapore for further treatment.

Medical sources earlier said that the bullet entered the right side of his head and exited through the left, but fragments remained lodged in his brain, leading to severe complications.

Hadi’s death has intensified concerns over political violence and security ahead of the 13th National Parliament Election.
