Barguna/Habiganj, Aug 27 (V7N) — Religious programmes marking Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) were held in Patharghata of Barguna and Madhabpur of Habiganj on Wednesday, with large numbers of devotees taking part in processions and prayer gatherings.
In Patharghata, the Bangladesh Chhatra Hizbullah’s upazila unit, an apolitical organisation affiliated with Chharachina Darbar Sharif, organised its annual procession to mark the occasion.
The procession began from the southern gate of Patharghata Central Jame Mosque and passed through the main streets of the municipal town before ending at the Patharghata Central Municipal Eidgah ground.
A Milad Mahfil and special prayers were held there after the procession. Participants carried colourful banners and placards featuring verses and poetry written in praise of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and recited Naats during the procession.
The special prayers sought peace, prosperity and well-being for the country, its people and the wider Muslim Ummah.
Among those present were Kazi Mohammad Toha, president of Patharghata upazila Jamiat-e-Hizbullah; Kazi Rakib, general secretary of the upazila Jubo Hizbullah; Hafiz Maulana Shahadat Hossain, Hafiz Bellal and Forkan Ahmed, along with leaders, activists and people from various professions.
Jashne Julus in Madhabpur
In Madhabpur, Habiganj, a colourful Jashne Julus was organised with religious solemnity and enthusiasm to mark Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
The procession was organised by the Madhabpur upazila unit of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, with a large number of devotees joining from different parts of the upazila.
The procession was led by Pirzada Alhaj Syed Zubayer Kamal, Pir Saheb of the historic Khandura Pak Darbar Sharif, and Pirzada Alhaj Syed Sharifur Rahman.
It began at the Madhabpur Pilot High School field, passed through major roads of Madhabpur municipality and returned to the school field. A Milad, Qiyam and recitation of Durood Sharif were held there, followed by a brief discussion and distribution of Tabarruk.
Among those attending were former multiple-term Madhabpur Upazila Parishad chairman Syed Mohammad Shahjahan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mehedi Hasan, Madhabpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Sohel Rana and a large number of devotees of Khandura Darbar Sharif.
From the morning, Quran recitations, Milad Mahfils, discussions and special prayers were held at mosques, madrasas and other religious institutions across the upazila. Later, Islamic scholars, religious leaders, imams, muezzins, madrasa teachers and students and people from different walks of life joined the procession carrying banners, festoons and placards.
During the procession, the streets of Madhabpur resonated with recitations of Durood Sharif and religious chants, creating a festive atmosphere among local residents.
Speakers at the discussion said Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a messenger of mercy and peace for all humanity, and that his life embodied the values of justice, equality, brotherhood, tolerance and humanity.
They urged people to apply the teachings and Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) in their personal, family and social lives rather than limiting the observance of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi to formal celebrations.
They also called on the younger generation to learn about the life and character of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and follow his teachings in building their lives.
The day-long programmes in both Patharghata and Madhabpur were marked by religious solemnity and festive gatherings, with large numbers of devotees participating in the celebrations.
