Rajshahi, Aug 27 (V7N) — A new agro-resort is being developed on more than 100 bighas of land in Chuniapara village of Tanore upazila in Rajshahi, with entrepreneurs hoping the project will create employment opportunities and stimulate the local economy.
Named ‘Kutumbari Agro Resort’, the project has already entered the initial development stage. A field-level survey has been completed, and the entrepreneurs expect the resort to become visibly developed within a year.
Once fully operational, the resort could contribute to the growth of local tourism while creating jobs for people in the surrounding communities. The entrepreneurs believe the project could also generate economic activity in agriculture, transport, food, small businesses and various service sectors.
Located within a reasonable distance of Rajshahi city, Chuniapara offers a rural environment away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The resort is being developed under the supervision of local entrepreneur Saiful Islam, who serves as its chairman. Among the other entrepreneurs involved are Shamim Hossain and Mithun Kumar.
Project chairman Saiful Islam said Kutumbari Agro Resort was being developed around three key elements: the distinctive landscape of the Barind region, rural life and close contact with nature.
“If implemented according to plan, the project could open a new chapter in Rajshahi’s tourism sector,” he said, adding that the resort could provide city residents with an opportunity to reconnect with nature and rural life.
Managing Director Mithun Kumar said the project was being developed on more than 100 bighas of land and would combine agriculture, nature, rural life and leisure activities to offer visitors a different experience.
The project was recently formally launched at an event and special guests’ conference held at an upscale restaurant in Rajshahi city. A joint secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration attended the event as the chief guest. Senior government officials, businesspeople, doctors, teachers, journalists and entrepreneurs were also present.
At the event, Saiful Islam outlined the future plans for the resort, saying one of its main objectives was to provide people with an opportunity to spend time close to nature away from the pressures of city life.
He said the entrepreneurs planned to develop Kutumbari as a welcoming recreational destination centred on the natural environment and traditional rural life.
Project chief designer Md Mamun Sarwar said a distinctive design had been prepared for the resort. Once the plan is implemented, he said, the site would become an attractive destination for visitors.
One of the resort’s planned highlights will be traditional mud houses, according to Mithun Kumar. Visitors will be able to experience a rural atmosphere and the traditional feel of mud-built homes, offering a contrast to the concrete surroundings of modern cities.
The combination of the smell of earth, open air, rural surroundings and natural landscapes is expected to create a distinctive experience for visitors. Sitting on the veranda of a mud house and enjoying views of the surrounding fields could become one of the resort’s attractions.
The entrepreneurs said the name ‘Kutumbari Agro Resort’ reflects the central concept of the project — developing new tourism opportunities around agriculture.
Alongside agricultural and nature-based activities, the project is planned to include necessary tourism facilities for visitors. The entrepreneurs believe the resort could offer a different experience for families, nature lovers and travellers while creating new income opportunities for people in the surrounding rural communities.
