Rajshahi, July 13 (V7N) — Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, a member of the BNP’s National Standing Committee, declared that the party will no longer accept the narrative of “justice and reform before elections,” emphasizing that a timely return to democratic governance must take priority. He made these remarks on Saturday morning while addressing a BNP membership renewal and recruitment event held at Bhubon Mohan Park in Rajshahi city.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Khan stressed that while judicial processes and institutional reforms are essential, they are ongoing tasks and cannot be used as a precondition to delay elections. “The primary responsibility of a caretaker or interim government must be to restore democracy to the people through swift, fair elections,” he stated.

He further warned BNP leaders and activists to avoid replicating the political behaviors of the past ruling party, the Awami League, reminding them to uphold democratic values and internal discipline. “We must distinguish ourselves by our conduct if we are to win back the people’s trust,” he said.

The event, organized by the Rajshahi City unit of the BNP, included the distribution of renewal forms for existing party members as well as registration forms for new members. The program marks part of a broader national initiative by the BNP to expand and consolidate its grassroots support ahead of the upcoming national elections.

Dr. Khan’s statements signal a shift in the party’s posture toward the electoral process, reflecting growing frustration within the BNP over repeated delays and political roadblocks in establishing a neutral electoral environment.
