Dhaka, Aug 12 (V7N)- Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has dismissed reports that the ban on the Awami League has been lifted, describing the claim as completely false.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at a programme held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Wednesday morning on the occasion of International Youth Day.
Responding to questions from reporters, the minister said the government is working sincerely to resolve any diplomatic complications with India.
He said the BNP government is giving top priority to the overall development of the country's youth. Employment and skills development for young people are also being discussed with importance at every cabinet meeting, he added.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque said the government is taking various initiatives to make young people self-reliant. Under these initiatives, youth will receive computers and laptops as well as financial assistance through loans on easy terms, he said.
Several diplomats from Bangladesh and abroad were also present at the programme.
