Khan Younis, Aug 12 (V7N)- Seventy-four Palestinians have returned to the Gaza Strip after being stranded in the occupied West Bank for nearly three years due to Israeli restrictions.
The group entered southern Gaza through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Monday (August 10) and arrived in Khan Younis, where they were received by local Palestinians.
The 74 people had been unable to return to Gaza for a prolonged period. They were permitted to make the journey for the first time since October 2023, when the latest phase of the Gaza conflict began.
Their return has been welcomed as a significant development, allowing them to reunite with relatives, friends and communities after years of separation.
Since October 2023, movement in and out of Gaza has been severely restricted amid Israeli military operations and the ongoing conflict. Travel between the West Bank and Gaza has also remained heavily controlled.
The return of the group marks a rare break in the prolonged restrictions that have separated Palestinians from their families and homes.
