Washington, Aug 12 (V7N)- US President Donald Trump has claimed that the situation with Iran is going well and that US forces have “total control” of the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Tuesday (August 11).
He said the situation with Iran was going “absolutely well” and claimed that the US Navy currently has complete control over the strategic waterway.
Trump also expressed deep distrust of Iran, saying he does not believe the Iranian leadership can be trusted and accusing Tehran of repeatedly lying to him.
His remarks came amid continuing tensions over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has said the waterway will remain closed unless Washington changes its position and meets conditions set by Tehran.
The dispute over the strait remains a major concern for global energy and shipping markets because of its importance to international oil transportation.
