Teknaf, Aug 10 (V7N) — Environment, Forest and Climate Change State Minister Sheikh Faridul Alam MP visited a newly planted forest area in the reserved forests of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday.
The minister visited a 40-hectare plantation in the Rangikhali forest area under the Muchani Beat of the Teknaf Forest Range at around 1pm.
During the visit, he planted a sapling of the chalता (elephant apple) tree as part of the plantation programme.
Chattogram Regional Forest Conservator Mihir Kumar Do, Cox’s Bazar South Divisional Forest Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Forest Conservator Monirul Islam and Teknaf Range Officer Abdur Rashid accompanied the minister.
Officials from different forest beats, police personnel, forest guards and members of forest patrol teams were also present during the inspection.
The visit focused on the newly established plantation and the protection and management of the reserved forest area.
