Dhaka, Aug 12 (V7N)- A low-pressure area has formed over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh, prompting authorities to issue a warning for the country's coastal regions.
The Meteorological Department issued the warning on Wednesday (August 12), saying the low-pressure system may intensify and could cause gusty winds over the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas.
In view of the developing weather system, the seaports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to hoist local warning signal No. 3.
The department has also advised all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal to proceed with caution and remain close to the coast until further notice.
Authorities have urged fishermen and those involved in maritime activities to remain alert and follow weather warnings as the low-pressure system develops.
