Dhaka, Oct 23 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan has urged the Election Commission (EC) not to assign controversial or politically biased officials in key positions during the upcoming 13th national election.

He made the call during a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Thursday (October 23).

Dr. Moin Khan said, “We have reached an understanding with the Election Commission regarding a fair election. For the past 17 years, the administrative structure has been shaped on political grounds. As a result, past elections turned into mockeries. The officials who served under the EC during those elections are unlikely to change overnight. Therefore, the EC must ensure that such individuals are not involved in this election process.”

He added, “I came here not for personal or party interests, but for the sake of the nation. I discussed with the Commission the need to ensure that 18 crore voters can cast their votes without fear.”

Highlighting the manpower challenges facing the EC, Dr. Moin Khan noted that the Commission would require around one million personnel to conduct the polls smoothly. “The EC’s own manpower is very limited. It cannot manage the election with just five members. However, I have confidence that the Commission will be able to hold a fair and impartial election this time,” he added.
