Dhaka, Oct 03 (V7N)- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition Dr Shafiqur Rahman has claimed that people in the country are not doing well not only in terms of food and clothing but also in terms of dignity and security.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at the National Mufassir Conference organised by Bangladesh Majlisul Mufassirin at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in Dhaka on Saturday.

Shafiqur Rahman said the entire community of Islamic scholars should not be blamed for the mistakes or misconduct of a few individuals.

He called for Islamic scholars to be treated with respect and said criticism should not be directed at the entire community because of isolated incidents.

The Jamaat chief also claimed that a law contrary to the Quran and Sunnah had been passed in Parliament.

He called for discussions on amending the law and said criticism of the legislation should be aimed at bringing about its amendment.

Shafiqur Rahman also urged Islamic scholars to take greater responsibility in addressing social issues and contributing to efforts to improve society.

His remarks came amid ongoing political debate over legislation, religious issues and the role of Islamic scholars in public life.
