Dhaka, Oct 07 (V7N)- Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and opposition leader Dr Shafiqur Rahman left Dhaka for Turkey on Wednesday morning to attend the Second International Conference on Bangladesh Studies.

He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday (October 7).

Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to attend the conference at Istanbul University as the chief guest. The event is being jointly organized by Istanbul University and the Center for Policy and Social Research.

The conference is being held under the theme, “Multidimensional Perspectives on Bangladesh 2.0 Reforms and New Horizons of Turkey-Bangladesh Cooperation.”

Academicians, policymakers, diplomats and researchers from Bangladesh, Turkey and other countries are expected to participate in the conference.

During his visit, Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to address participants on Bangladesh’s reform process and prospects for expanded cooperation between Bangladesh and Turkey.

Following his Turkey visit, the Jamaat Ameer is scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

He is expected to return to Bangladesh on Sunday (October 11) morning after completing his overseas visit.
