Gurugram, Oct 10 (V7N)- Popular Indian YouTuber and political content creator Dhruv Rathee has reportedly been arrested by Gurugram Police ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, according to a report by Hindustan Times.
Police reportedly took Rathee into custody from his residence at Kendriya Vihar Society in Sector 56 of Gurugram, Haryana, on Saturday, October 10.
According to the report, Gurugram Police said the arrest was made over alleged violations of police-issued instructions and restrictions related to the planned demonstration.
Rathee had reportedly intended to travel to Jantar Mantar to participate in a protest against the Election Commission. Before he could leave, police personnel arrived at his residence and took him into custody.
The reported arrest comes amid heightened security across Delhi and the National Capital Region ahead of a demonstration organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which has called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Authorities have imposed restrictions on public gatherings and strengthened security around central Delhi to prevent unauthorized assemblies. Transport services and mobile internet access have also been affected by measures surrounding the planned protest.
Police reportedly said the action against Rathee was linked to violations of the restrictions imposed ahead of the gathering. However, details of the specific alleged violation and any subsequent legal proceedings were not immediately clear from the available report.
