Dhaka, Oct 09 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has emphasized that there is no scope for activities outside the consensus already established among political parties.
“There is no room for anything beyond the consensus. We must stay within the agreement that has been reached,” he said while speaking to reporters at a briefing at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Thursday (October 9).
Amir Khasru noted that each political party holds the right to make its own decisions. “Those who were previously in alliance with the BNP may field their own candidates if they wish, or remain in the alliance. There is nothing to impose on anyone,” he added.
Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met with German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Rudiger Lotz. Following the meeting, Amir Khasru said that discussions were held on Bangladesh–Germany relations, as well as trade and investment prospects.
He added that Germany and other countries view Bangladesh as a promising destination for investment—but only under an elected government that ensures transparency and stability.
Regarding political consensus, Amir Khasru remarked, “We should move forward maintaining as much consensus as possible. The people have not given politicians the authority to make every decision among themselves.”
He concluded by saying, “Each party will act according to its principles. BNP will make its own decisions as BNP.”
