New York, Sept 27 (V7N) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, declaring that Israel has recovered from “its darkest day” and achieved “one of the most stunning military comebacks in history.” He vowed that his country will not rest until Hamas is eliminated and all hostages are freed.
In his speech, Netanyahu recalled the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023, when militants entered Israel committing “acts of unspeakable savagery,” and accused Iran and its regional allies of threatening global peace and Israel’s very existence. He claimed that over the past year, Israel has struck a decisive blow against the “enemy axis,” targeting Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
Highlighting Israel’s 12-day conflict with Iran, Netanyahu said he and former US President Donald Trump had fulfilled their promise to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, while cautioning that the international community must remain vigilant and maintain sanctions against Iran to prevent future nuclear developments.
Turning to Gaza, Netanyahu emphasized that the remaining Hamas forces are concentrated in Gaza City, reiterating Israel’s commitment to “finish the job” and prevent further atrocities. He addressed hostages held in Gaza directly, assuring them that Israel has not forgotten them and will continue efforts to secure their release.
Netanyahu also criticized recent recognition of a Palestinian state by France, Britain, Australia, Canada, and other countries, calling it “a mark of shame” that rewards terrorists. He insisted that opposition to a Palestinian state represents the policy of Israel’s people and state, not merely his government.
The Prime Minister concluded that Israel’s survival and resurgence demonstrate its ability to counter attempts to destroy the country, emphasizing that the nation has actively fought back against threats since the October 7 attacks.
