Pabna, Oct 2 (V7N) – A truck driver was killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision between two trucks on the Ishwardi-Pabna highway in Pabna’s Ishwardi upazila early on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. near Bot Tola in Arankola Harukhali field area of the municipality. The deceased was identified as Sabuj Pramanik, 35, son of Khokon Pramanik of Tebunia Boro Matia village in Maligasa union of Pabna Sadar upazila.
Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdun Nur confirmed the incident.
The injured were identified as Nazmul Hossain, 30, son of Shimul Hossain of Chukai village in Nagarkanda, Faridpur; Babu Mia, 30, son of Malek Hossain of Krishtapur village in the same upazila; and Ashraful Islam, 35, son of Ohed Mia of Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj.
According to Mir Amirul Islam, Warehouse Inspector of Ishwardi Fire Service and Civil Defense, the accident took place when an empty truck heading from Ishwardi to Pabna collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck that had lost control. Sabuj Pramanik, the driver of the empty truck, died instantly, while three others were injured. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot, rescued the injured, and sent them to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex. Sabuj’s body was recovered from the mangled vehicle.
OC Abdun Nur said the body has been sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination before being handed over to the family. A case has been filed under the Road Transport Act with Ishwardi Police Station in connection with the accident.
