Ukhiya, Aug. 13 (V7N) — Police have rescued two madrasa students nearly a month after they were allegedly abducted from their home in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.
The two brothers were rescued from the Thaingkhali area at around 10pm on Tuesday after an extensive search operation. They were later handed over to their family, bringing relief to their relatives.
The rescued students were identified as Shafiqul, 13, and Shahidul, 11, sons of Shah Alam of the Thaingkhali area.
According to police, the two brothers were allegedly abducted from their home in Thaingkhali at around 9:30am on July 10. Following the incident, police launched an investigation and conducted a series of searches to locate them.
Police said the children were rescued without any ransom being paid after nearly a month of investigation and search efforts.
Mohammad Azad, in-charge of the Balukhali Police Outpost, confirmed the rescue and said efforts were underway to identify and arrest those involved in the alleged abduction.
Mohammad Atikur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ukhiya Police Station, said the two students were rescued without the payment of any ransom. He added that police were working to identify those responsible and take legal action in connection with the incident.
The children's safe return has brought relief to their family. Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police A.N.M. Sajedur Rahman expressed gratitude to those who assisted the authorities in rescuing the two students.
