Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N) – Expressing dissatisfaction with the current political climate and electoral environment, the Krishak Sramik Janata League, led by Bangabir Kader Siddiqui, has announced that it will not participate in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The decision was communicated in a press release on Saturday, December 27, signed by the party’s Acting General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Delwar. The release stated that the decision was made unanimously after extensive discussions during a special extended meeting held on December 24 to mark the party’s anniversary.

According to the party, following the July uprising, the public expected a free and fair election; however, the interim government has yet to ensure an environment conducive to such an election. The release further cited severe deterioration in public safety, law and order, and stalled development activities, noting that voter enthusiasm is low. Under these circumstances, the party believes a fair election is not feasible. It also criticized government measures taken in preparation for the election, claiming they have further complicated the situation.

Sanowar Hossain Sajib, a member of the central committee and former mayor, confirmed the announcement to the media. He stated that as a democratic and electoral party, the Krishak Sramik Janata League has always supported free and fair elections, but under the current conditions, it has decided to abstain from participating.

Founded in 1999 through a by-election, the Krishak Sramik Janata League has now, for the first time in many years, declared its withdrawal from a national parliamentary election, marking a significant political statement ahead of the polls.
