Dhaka, Aug 14 (V7N)- The land depression that formed off the coast of West Bengal and adjoining areas has moved west-northwestwards and is currently located over Jharkhand and nearby areas of Gangetic West Bengal.
The Meteorological Department issued the warning on Friday (August 14), with Meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Farooq of the Storm Warning Centre providing the latest update.
According to the warning, the depression is likely to move further west-northwestwards and gradually weaken. However, its influence may cause gusty winds over the country's seaports, the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas.
In view of the situation, local warning signal number 3 has been kept in place at the country's four seaports—Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra.
The Meteorological Department has also advised fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
