Dhaka, Nov 26 (V7N) — The prosecution has filed a contempt of court complaint against Fazlur Rahman for making adverse remarks about the judicial process of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

The complaint was submitted on Wednesday (November 26) before a single bench of Tribunal-1, headed by retired District and Sessions Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury. The hearing is scheduled for Sunday (November 30) in the presence of the tribunal’s chairman.

Prosecutors Gazi MH Tamim and Mizanul Islam represented the prosecution, while Tarek Abdullah, Faruk Ahmed, and others were also present.

Prosecutor Tamim told reporters that Rahman had publicly stated on a private television talk show that he “did not accept this court” from the beginning and rejected the trial. The prosecution submitted these statements to the tribunal.

Prosecutor Mizanul Islam added that the tribunal could take action by issuing a notice or providing Rahman an opportunity to show cause. Under the tribunal’s provisions, the maximum punishment for contempt is one year of simple imprisonment and a fine of 5,000 taka.
