Sylhet, Nov 10 (V7N) — The BNP has withdrawn the expulsion orders against 40 party leaders who participated in the Sylhet City Corporation election held in 2023. The decision was announced on Sunday through a notification signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, restoring the primary membership of the leaders.
The leaders were previously expelled for contesting the election, which the BNP had officially boycotted. Following their participation, the leaders sought forgiveness from the party high command. Considering their apology and long-standing contributions to the party, BNP decided to reinstate their membership.
Among the leaders whose expulsion was revoked are Syed Tofiqul Hadi and Mufti Komor Uddin Kamu from Ward 1; Mizanur Rahman Mithu from Ward 3; Md. Kamal Mia, Khaled Akbar Chowdhury, Aminur Rahman Khokon, and Shahed Siraj from Ward 5; Farhad Chowdhury Shamim from Ward 6; Md. Saeedur Rahman Zuber from Ward 10; Abdur Rahim Motchir from Ward 11; Nazrul Islam Munim from Ward 14; Md. Mujibur Rahman from Ward 15; A B M Zillur Rahman Ujjal and Salman Chowdhury Shammi from Ward 18; Badrul Azad Rana from Ward 22; Mamunur Rahman Mamun from Ward 23; Humayun Kabir Suhin from Ward 24; Advocate Rukshana Begum Shahnaz from Ward 25; Selim Ahmed Roni from Ward 26; Ali Abbas from Ward 28; Golam Mostofa Kamal and Shahed Khan Swapan from Ward 29; Jabed Amin Selim, Raju Mia, and Sanr Mia from Ward 30; Md. Abdul Mukit from Ward 31; Advocate Hedayet Hossain Tanvir and Dulal Ahmed from Ward 32; Gaus Uddin Pakhi and Delwar Hossain Nadim from Ward 33; Dilwar Hossain Joy from Ward 37; Usman Harun Ponir from Ward 38; Altaf Hossain Sumon from Ward 39; Abdul Hashib from Ward 40; and Sumon Ahmed Sikdar from Ward 42.
The decision reflects the party leadership’s recognition of the leaders’ loyalty and contributions while reinforcing internal reconciliation ahead of future political activities.
