Dhaka, Oct 10 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has not obstructed anyone from giving marks, and the matter entirely concerns the Election Commission (EC), said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

“The paddy is irresistible — that’s why it’s being dragged around unnecessarily,” he remarked, referring to BNP’s election symbol, during a discussion meeting held in the capital on Friday (October 10) afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul said that there is only one way to restore democracy in the country — through free, fair, and acceptable elections. “No matter how much reform we carry out, democracy cannot return without an elected government formed through credible polls,” he added.

He further stated that BNP’s origin lies in reforms, so blaming the party over reform issues is baseless. “The elections must be held on time. Any attempt to manipulate the process to benefit a particular party will not be tolerated by the BNP,” he warned.

Emphasizing the importance of neutrality, the BNP leader said, “A completely neutral bureaucracy must be ensured during the elections, otherwise the people will not accept the results.”
