Pabna, Aug. 13 (V7N) — A Russian national working at the under-construction Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Ishwardi, Pabna, died after falling ill at the project site on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sergey Dorokhin, 51, an employee of Atomtech Energo, a Russian nuclear technology and engineering company involved in the Rooppur project.

According to police and project sources, Sergey suddenly became unwell while working inside Building 5.7 at the plant at around 10:30am. A company doctor was called to the site and provided him with initial medical assistance.

As his condition deteriorated, arrangements were made to take him to hospital. However, he died on the way, police said.

Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Asadur Rahman confirmed the death.

The police officer said Sergey had initially received treatment at the project's medical facility after feeling unwell and had reportedly been reluctant to go to hospital. His condition later worsened and he died.

The body was recovered from the Atomtech Energo office inside the project complex and sent to the morgue of Pabna General Hospital for an autopsy.

Police said the exact cause of death would be established after the autopsy and a medical assessment.

The body will be handed over to the deceased's relatives after completion of the necessary legal and official procedures, police said.
