Mongla, Oct 4 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a post-Puja exchange meeting with members of the Hindu community in Mongla on Friday afternoon. The gathering, organized by the local BNP, took place at the premises of Buruburia Government Primary School in Sundarban Union of Mongla upazila.

Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam, Joint Convener of Bagerhat District BNP and nomination aspirant for the Mongla-Rampal parliamentary constituency, attended the event as the chief guest.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Islam highlighted BNP’s vision for climate action, stating that Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has pledged that if BNP returns to power, 300 million trees will be planted across Bangladesh in the next five years. He emphasized that this initiative would not only combat climate change but also create significant employment opportunities through sapling production, distribution, and plantation.

He further noted Bangladesh’s geographical advantages, with access to the Bay of Bengal, the Sundarbans, Mongla Port, an Export Processing Zone (EPZ), and vast industrial areas. However, he said a lack of technological expertise has prevented the country from fully harnessing its marine resources. Dr. Islam added that under a BNP government, foreign experts would be brought in to ensure sustainable extraction of marine resources.

He also outlined BNP’s plan to develop eco-friendly tourism around the Sundarbans, enhance the operational capacity of Mongla Port, and increase employment opportunities. “We want equality and justice in every sector,” he said.

The meeting was attended by Abu Hossain Poni, General Secretary of Mongla Upazila BNP, Sheikh Shakir Hossain, Organizational Secretary, and a large number of Hindu men and women from the local community.
