Dhaka, Jul 06 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said that the monsoon depression previously located over the coastal areas of West Bengal and adjoining northern Odisha has moved west-northwestward and is now positioned over interior Odisha and adjoining southern Jharkhand.
The information was disclosed in Special Bulletin No. 4, issued on Monday and signed by Meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick.
According to the bulletin, the depression is expected to continue moving further west or northwest. Its influence may generate squally weather over the northern Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh's coastal areas and the country's seaports.
In view of the prevailing weather conditions, the Meteorological Department has instructed the seaports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to continue displaying Local Warning Signal No. 3.
The department has also advised all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal to remain in safe shelters until further notice to avoid potential risks from rough weather and strong winds.
