Doha, Jul 12 (V7N)- Qatar has temporarily suspended all vessel movement in its territorial waters following an Iranian missile attack, citing security concerns and potential risks to maritime safety.
Qatar's Ministry of Transport announced the decision in a statement, urging ship owners and operators to halt all maritime activities until further notice.
The suspension applies to all types of vessels, including commercial ships, recreational boats, fishing vessels, and personal watercraft such as jet skis.
The ministry said the measure was taken as a precautionary step to protect public safety amid rising tensions in the Gulf region.
The decision comes after Iran launched ballistic missiles toward Qatar early Sunday (July 12) local time. Qatar's air defense systems intercepted several missiles during the attack, but debris from the incident fell in some areas, injuring at least three people. The injured were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Following the attack, security concerns across the Gulf have intensified, with renewed worries over the safety of international waterways and maritime trade routes.
Authorities in the region are closely monitoring developments as tensions continue to rise, with shipping and commercial activities facing increased security challenges.
