Nov 30, (V7N) - Shedeur Sanders, quarterback for the University of Colorado, has been awarded the prestigious Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, recognizing him as the nation’s top quarterback. The award will be formally presented to Sanders next Friday in Baltimore.
This honor comes on the heels of an impressive performance by Sanders, who threw for 438 yards and five touchdowns in Colorado’s dominant 52-0 victory over Oklahoma State. Sanders has shattered school records this season, accumulating 3,926 passing yards and 35 touchdown passes—marking the second consecutive year he's set the school's passing yardage record.
Sanders boasts an impressive 74.2% completion rate with only eight interceptions. Under his leadership, Colorado (9-3, 7-2 Big 12) is averaging 34.5 points per game and has a potential shot at the conference title. His father, Coach Deion Sanders, confirmed that Shedeur would participate in whichever bowl game Colorado qualifies for. Shedeur is also projected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The other finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award were Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss), Dillon Gabriel (Oregon), Kurtis Rourke (Indiana), and Cam Ward (Miami).
