Dhaka, Jul 13 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced the price of gold in the domestic market by Tk 2,216 per bhori (11.664 grams), with the new rates taking effect from 10:00 a.m. on Monday.

According to a BAJUS notification issued on Monday morning, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 221,966 per bhori, including VAT.

Under the revised price structure, 21-carat gold will cost Tk 211,993 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has been priced at Tk 182,075 per bhori. The price of traditional gold has been set at Tk 148,774 per bhori.

BAJUS said the decision was taken following a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.

"The new prices, including VAT, have been fixed after considering the overall market situation," the association said in its notification.

The organization added that the revised prices will remain effective at all jewellery outlets across the country until further notice.

BAJUS also clarified that making charges will continue to vary depending on the design of the jewellery. Since VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments, no additional VAT may be charged separately from customers.

The association further said that its existing policies regarding jewellery exchange and buyback will remain unchanged, excluding applicable VAT, making charges and the value of any stones used in the ornaments.
