PABNA, July 18, (v7n) – Miscreants slit the throat of Abdus Shukur (40), a leader of the banned local Awami League, in Ataikula, Santhia upazila, Pabna. Police recovered his body from a garden in Ratanpur Uttarpara, Bhulbaria Union, Ataikula Police Station at around 4:30 pm on Saturday.
Ataikula Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mujibur Rahman confirmed the recovery. The deceased Shukur, son of the late Rokon Pramanik of Ratanpur village, was the vice-president of Ward No. 9 Awami League.
According to family and local sources, Shukur left home at around 9 pm on Friday. When he did not return by midnight, family members grew concerned. Local people and relatives contacted his home but could not find any information. On Saturday, locals informed police after discovering his body with his throat slit in the forest of Wazir's garden in Ratanpur area.
Rumi Hossain, son of Bhulbaria Union Awami League President Abu Yunus, confirmed that Shukur was the vice-president of Ward No. 9 Awami League of Bhulbaria Union.
OC Mujibur Rahman said police reached the spot after receiving information, recovered the body, and sent it to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The motive behind the murder is not yet known, and police are working to unravel the mystery.
