DHAKA, May 29, (V7N) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam today received the body of Bangladeshi migrant worker Mohammad Shrabon, who was killed in a recent missile attack in Iraq, and handed over financial assistance to his grieving family.
Shrabon’s body arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4:45 am on a Turkish Airlines flight under the supervision of the Bangladesh Embassy in Baghdad.
The state minister received the body on behalf of the government with deep sorrow and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family, according to a Foreign Ministry press release.
Mohammad Shrabon, son of Mohammad Noli Mia from Bakultala village in Munshiganj Sadar upazila, had been living and working in Baghdad for the last 10 years.
The body was transported from Baghdad International Airport on May 27 aboard Turkish Airlines Flight TK0843 and reached Dhaka after transiting through Türkiye.
After completing airport formalities, the body was handed over to the deceased’s father, wife and daughter.
On the occasion, Shama Obaed Islam provided Tk 35,000 for transportation and funeral expenses, along with a special government grant of Tk 50,000 and additional financial assistance.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board were also present at the airport.
