Dhaka, May 5 (V7N): Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi is arriving in Dhaka today for a two-day official visit. The visit is expected to focus primarily on issues related to illegal migration, human trafficking, and bilateral security cooperation.
According to sources at the Ministry of Home Affairs, discussions will be held on preventing illegal immigration and enhancing joint efforts to combat human trafficking. Other agenda items may include cooperation in the security sector, training programs for police and border guard forces (BGB), and avenues for mutual development between Italy and Bangladesh.
The visit comes at a time when European countries, including Italy, are increasingly seeking collaboration with nations like Bangladesh to manage migration challenges and strengthen regional security frameworks.
Officials from both sides are hopeful that the visit will pave the way for deeper diplomatic engagement and practical collaboration on key transnational issues.
