Dhaka, May 04 (V7N) – National Consensus Commission Vice Chairman Dr. Ali Riaz has called on political parties to engage in open discussions and make necessary concessions to build consensus on fundamental national issues.
Speaking at a meeting with the 12-party alliance held at the LD Hall of the Parliament House on Sunday (May 4), Dr. Riaz emphasized that unity on core reforms is essential for the country's democratic future. He stated that the first phase of the commission’s discussions would conclude within 15 days and encouraged parties to continue dialogues with their allied groups.
During the meeting, Mustafa Jamal Haider, the head of the 12-party alliance, stressed the need for implementing minimum reforms without delay. He asserted that the alliance is committed to ensuring that the democratic aspirations of the people are not hindered, and that dictatorship must never return to Bangladesh.
Earlier in the day, members of the National Consensus Commission and representatives from the 12-party alliance held detailed discussions on reform proposals, which include constitutional, electoral, and administrative reforms.
