Dhaka, Nov 29 (V7N) — BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia remains in critical condition, with no improvement reported over the past three days. She continues to receive treatment in the CCU under close observation due to multiple physical complications.

On Saturday (November 29), BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman expressed heartfelt gratitude for the prayers and support coming from people of all walks of life, regardless of political affiliation, for Khaleda Zia’s recovery.

BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, who visited the hospital at midnight on Friday, told reporters afterward that Khaleda Zia’s physical condition remains unstable.
“We tried to speak to her from a distance. She recognized us, and we exchanged greetings,” he said.

Khaleda Zia, nearly 80 and suffering from several chronic illnesses, was admitted to the hospital on November 23 with lung infection and heart-related complications. She is currently receiving treatment from a medical board of local and foreign specialists, who are maintaining continuous close supervision.

In a press statement, Tarique Rahman said that the medical teams at home and abroad are providing the highest level of sincere and professional care. He added that several friendly countries have expressed willingness to offer all possible cooperation, including advanced medical support.

Regarding his return to the country, Tarique Rahman wrote that, like any child, he wishes to be near his mother during such a crisis. However, the ability to make decisions on this matter is not fully within his control, and depends on the prevailing political situation. He expressed hope that the long wait will end soon once the political reality reaches a favorable stage.

The BNP has requested that party leaders and activists avoid crowding the hospital premises to maintain a proper environment for treatment.

Meanwhile, an NCP delegation—including Tasnim Zara, Nasiruddin Patwari, and Hasnat Abdullah—visited the hospital to inquire about Khaleda Zia’s health condition.
