London, Oct 6 (V7N) — For the first time in two decades, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has given a media interview, marking a significant political moment for Bangladesh’s opposition party.

BBC Bangla announced the interview on Sunday through a Facebook post, stating that Tarique Rahman discussed a wide range of issues, including the upcoming national election, politics, and current national affairs.

According to BBC Bangla, the exclusive two-part interview will air on Monday, October 6, and Tuesday, October 7, at 9 a.m. Bangladesh time. Viewers will be able to watch it on BBC Bangla’s website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel.

Tarique Rahman, who has been living in self-exile in London for nearly 17 years, has continued to lead the party’s organizational activities virtually, participating in BNP programs and meetings from abroad. Despite his virtual involvement, this will be the first time he has spoken directly to a media outlet during his exile.

His appearance has generated strong public and political interest, particularly among BNP supporters, as it comes shortly after the High Court lifted a long-standing ban on broadcasting his speeches in Bangladesh. The restriction, imposed during the previous Awami League government, was removed on August 5, 2024.

The rare interview is expected to shed light on Tarique Rahman’s political views, his thoughts on Bangladesh’s current state, and the future direction of the BNP.
