Tangail, July 26 (V7N) – As political momentum builds ahead of Bangladesh’s upcoming national elections, grassroots-level campaigning intensified in Tangail Sadar-5 constituency with a series of courtyard meetings (uthan boithak) held in support of BNP leader Sultan Salauddin Tuku.

The meetings took place Saturday afternoon across three wards of Dainya Union under Tangail Sadar upazila, organized by the local unit of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, the women’s wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The gatherings were presided over by Azharul Islam Labu, former union chairman and senior BNP leader. Advocate Momtaz Karim, former general secretary of the Tangail District Mohila Dal, was present as chief guest.

Other notable attendees included Shahadat Hossain, president of BNP’s Ward No. 7; Mohila Dal leaders Sonia Hamza, Nasrin Azad, Apu, Asha Akter, Hawa Begum, Imu Akter, Roushanara Begum, Kohinur Begum, and Shahnaz Parvin, who also chairs the local election steering committee.

After the meetings, party activists carried out door-to-door outreach, urging residents to vote for Sultan Salauddin Tuku and to support the BNP’s electoral symbol, the "Dhaner Sheesh", in the coming polls.

Speakers at the event asserted that a victory for Tuku would help accelerate development efforts in the Tangail region and restore democratic governance. Organizers voiced optimism that active grassroots participation—particularly from women voters—would significantly strengthen support for the BNP’s campaign.

The event reflects the heightened campaign activity unfolding in strategic constituencies, with major parties ramping up local engagement in anticipation of a fiercely contested general election.
