Bagerhat, Nov 13 (V7N) — Leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat organized a leaflet distribution campaign and a brief street rally on Wednesday evening to promote the party’s 31-point state reform proposal announced by BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman.

The event took place around 5 p.m. at Madrasa Bazar in Baraikhali Union, where BNP leaders distributed leaflets among local residents from various professions. The rally concluded with a short street meeting presided over by Ward BNP President Humayun Kabir. The main address was delivered by the upazila unit’s senior joint general secretary, Lecturer Russell Al Islam.

In his speech, Russell Al Islam warned that if the “banned party Awami League and its affiliated organizations” attempted to create chaos, unrest, or acts of terrorism under the guise of political movements, they would be strongly resisted and handed over to law enforcement authorities.

He further stated that the BNP is a development-oriented political party working under the leadership of Tarique Rahman to implement a people-centered reform agenda. “Under the guidance of regional leader Kazi Khairuzzaman Shipon, we are distributing the 31-point reform plan to every household in the area as part of the party’s national roadmap,” he said.

Russell Al Islam also praised Kazi Khairuzzaman Shipon’s long-standing contributions to organizing grassroots party members, noting that he has been active for over two decades in strengthening BNP at the local level. “If sacrifices and loyalty during difficult times are truly recognized, then there is no alternative to Kazi Khairuzzaman Shipon for the Bagerhat-4 constituency,” he added.

Other speakers at the event included Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal joint convener Md. Sohel Bepari, Ward BNP President Md. Masum Fakir, Baraikhali Union BNP Vice President Moyazzem Hossain Talukdar, Jubo Dal leader HM Abu Hanif, BNP leader Palash Mridha, and Upazila Chhatra Dal joint convener Dewan Sohel Rana, among others.

The gathering ended peacefully, with local BNP activists reaffirming their commitment to carry Tarique Rahman’s reform message to every corner of the community.
