Rajshahi, Oct 19 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Road and Highway Workers’ Union organized a human chain in Lakshipur, Rajshahi, on Sunday at 11:30 a.m., demanding resolution of salary issues for master roll employees, implementation of 27 pending court cases, and enforcement of verdicts in seven subsequent cases.

Union representatives highlighted seven key demands during the protest. The primary demand called for the immediate finalization of pension policies for employees covered under the 27 and 7 court cases, effective from their initial date of joining. They also urged the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) to ensure monthly salary payments for all master roll employees under the institutional code 3211104.

Speakers further demanded that all master roll employees be integrated into revenue service with relaxed age and educational criteria. They called for the regularization of all third and fourth-class employees and the introduction of promotions based on qualifications.

Union leaders requested that the process of including working master roll employees under the “Daily Casual Labor Policy 2025” be stopped. They also called for the submission of proposals for reorganizing the union’s structure under the supervision of trade union representatives.

Additional demands included creating a comprehensive database of employees working on development projects to facilitate their transfer to revenue service after project completion and ending vehicle rentals through vendors in all projects.

Key participants at the human chain included Saidur Rahman, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Road and Highway Workers’ Union Rajshahi District Council; Zainul Abedin, President of the District Council; Md. Saidur Rahman and Josim Uddin, Joint General Secretaries; along with other union leaders.

The protest emphasized the urgent need for fair remuneration, legal compliance, and improved working conditions for master roll employees, reflecting broader labor concerns within Bangladesh’s road and highway sector.
