Pabna, Oct 18 (V7N) – The funeral prayers and burial of Abir Hasan, the only son of Shamim Hasan Milon, a correspondent for Daily Samakal and executive member of Chatmohor Press Club, were held on Saturday morning.
The Janaza prayer took place at 10:30 a.m. in the premises of Madhya Shalikha Jame Mosque in Chatmohor town. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including former MP of Pabna-3 K.M. Anwarul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Musa Naser Chowdhury, former Upazila Chairman and former municipal mayor Hasadul Islam Hira, central Krishak Dal president Agriculturalist Hasan Zafier Tuhin, president of the Madhya Shalikha Jame Mosque management committee Rajiur Rahman Rumi, Chatmohor Press Club president Helalur Rahman Jewel, former president Rokibur Rahman Tukun, general secretary S.M. Masud Rana, senior vice president of Pabna Press Club Shifat Rahman Sonam, and managing director of Daily Ichamati Mokhlesur Rahman Khan Biplob, among others.
The Janaza prayer was led by Imam Hafiz Md. Raihan Uddin of Madhya Shalikha Jame Mosque, after which Abir was laid to rest at the Briguakhra communal cemetery.
Abir, 17, had been in a coma for nearly two years after sustaining severe injuries in a road accident. He passed away on Friday evening at his residence. He was a ninth-grade student at Chatmohor Government RCN and BSN Pilot High School. He is survived by one brother and one sister.
Local leaders, colleagues, and community members visited the family to offer condolences, including former MP K.M. Anwarul Islam, Krishak Dal president Hasan Zafier Tuhin, advisor of the Nationalist Cultural Party Hasanul Islam Raja, former Upazila Chairman and former municipal mayor Hasadul Islam Hira, along with numerous journalists and residents.
The tragic incident occurred on November 10, 2023, when Abir, after attending Friday prayers with his father, took his father’s motorcycle for a ride. He collided with a truck in Gunai Gacha area of Chatmohor, sustaining critical injuries. Initially treated at Chatmohor Hospital, he was later admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and subsequently transferred to the National Institute of Neurosciences in Dhaka for multiple surgeries. Despite several operations, Abir remained in a coma until his death, casting a shadow of grief over his family and the local community.
