Khagrachari, June 16 (V7N) – Speakers at an Eid-ul-Azha greeting and exchange meeting with journalists in Khagrachari today, Sunday, June 15, 2025, emphasized Jamaat-e-Islami's aspiration to establish a "just and humane state" in Bangladesh, calling for the country to be freed from "54 years of looting and oppression." The event commenced at 9 AM in Khagrachari district town.
Among those present at the meeting were Yakub Ali Chowdhury, a Khagrachhari District Member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and MP candidate for Asan No. 298, along with Khagrachhari District Ameer Professor Syed Abdur Momen, Secretary Minhazur Rahman, Joint General Secretary Md. Yusuf, and Sadar Upazila Ameer Md. Elias.
Speakers articulated their desire to build the country "by forming public opinion through democratic means." They highlighted Jamaat's founding in 1941 and reiterated their commitment to establishing justice "with the love of the people of Khagrachari."
In his address, Yakub Ali Chowdhury stated that he has not been able to "speak freely for the past 17 years." The speakers also voiced complaints about alleged attempts to nullify Jamaat's leadership in Bangladesh, citing "brutality of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and killings in the name of justice" as contributing factors. Reaffirming their stance, the organization expressed its desire to see fair and impartial elections held in Bangladesh.
