Ukhia, Cox's Bazar, June 16 (V7N) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has successfully recovered 140,000 pieces of Yaba pills in an ownerless state during an operation in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar. No arrests were made during the raid, which took place in the Anjuman Khalpar area of Palangkhali Union in Ukhia on Saturday night. The details of the seizure were released in a press statement on Sunday morning.
According to BGB sources, joint patrol teams from Balukhali and Palangkhali Border Observation Posts (BOPs) intensified their surveillance based on confidential intelligence regarding Yaba smuggling activities along the border.
During the intensified patrol, BGB members observed two to three individuals attempting to cross into Bangladesh from the Myanmar border. Upon being pursued, the suspected smugglers fled the scene. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of two blue bags. Inside these bags, BGB found 14 bio-resistant packets, collectively containing the 140,000 Yaba pills.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin PSC, Commander of 64 BGB, confirmed the successful operation. He emphasized that the Ukhia Battalion is playing a highly effective role in maintaining border security and combating smuggling and drug trafficking. He further stated that BGB patrols and intelligence activities have been significantly strengthened to prevent future drug smuggling attempts.
