Pabna, MAY 28 (V7N) – Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), also referred to as PAVIPRA in the news report, has officially commenced a month-long tree plantation program aimed at enhancing the environmental balance and beauty of its campus.
The initiative was inaugurated on Tuesday (May 27) at 11:00 AM by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. SM Abdul Awal, who planted the first tree along the university's main road. The inaugural ceremony saw the participation of Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahsan, deans of various faculties, departmental chairmen, proctors, student advisors, teachers, students, officers, and employees, all of whom joined in planting additional trees.
Throughout this month-long program, a total of 1,000 trees, encompassing 70 species of rare medicinal, forest, fruit, and flower trees, are planned to be systematically planted across the campus, following a layout designed by the tree planting committee.
During the inauguration, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. SM Abdul Awal emphasized the importance of the program, stating, "Planned tree planting has started in the university. To maintain the balance of the environment and enhance its beauty, trees will be planted throughout the campus. All types of trees including flowers, fruits, and forest trees will be planted." He also extended his gratitude to everyone involved in the tree plantation efforts.
The Vice-Chancellor further highlighted the ongoing positive transformations within the university, remarking, "We are seeing changes at every level of the university. You are all working together for this change and the university is undergoing qualitative changes. One day this university will be one of the best universities in Bangladesh."
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam reiterated the program's objectives, stating, "To maintain the balance of the environment and enhance the beauty of the campus, various types of trees including flowers and fruits will be planted. Saplings of various types of trees are being collected from all over the country and they will be planted in a planned manner."
