Rajshahi, Oct 6 (V7N) — Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5) have arrested three associates of the notorious female drug dealer Jesmin, also known as Bibijan, during a late-night anti-drug operation in Rajshahi’s Katakhali area. Authorities recovered 53.85 kilograms of cannabis during the raid.
According to RAB-5, the operation was conducted around 2 a.m. on October 4 in the Nolkhola and Mirkamari areas under Katakhali Police Station. The arrested individuals were identified as Md. Ashad Khan (21) of Shiroil, Mehedi Hasan (24) of Mirkamari, and Sabina Begum (40) of the same area.
A press release from RAB-5 stated that the detainees were involved in the transportation and distribution of cannabis under Jesmin’s direction. During the raid, officers recovered 53.85 kilograms of cannabis hidden in a carton under a bed, along with three mobile phones and SIM cards.
RAB investigators revealed that Jesmin, who managed an extensive drug network across Rajshahi, escaped during the operation. A case has been filed against her as a fugitive. During preliminary questioning, the arrested suspects confessed that they had been delivering cannabis under Jesmin’s instructions.
The RAB also reported that the group sourced cannabis at low prices from border areas and sold it at higher prices in various districts, including Rajshahi. Legal action has been initiated against the detainees under the Narcotics Control Act at Katakhali Police Station.
Officials from RAB-5 reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order, emphasizing that operations against drug dealers, arms traffickers, and other criminals will continue across the country.
