Dhaka, May 23 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a storm warning for seven regions of the country, cautioning that gusty or squally winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour may sweep through these areas by Friday noon.

According to a special weather bulletin issued for river ports from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, temporary gusty or squally winds from the west or northwest at 45–60 km/h are expected over Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, and Cox’s Bazar regions.

River ports in these regions have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number one.

Meanwhile, deep convection (cloud formation) has been observed over the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. As a result, stormy conditions may affect the Bay, the coastal belt, and maritime ports, prompting authorities to issue warning signal number three for Mongla port.

In light of the turbulent weather, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal have been advised to proceed toward the coast with caution and remain there until further notice.

The Meteorological Department continues to monitor the situation and is expected to issue updates as conditions evolve.
