Dhaka, July 28 (V7N)- Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed entered Bangabhaban for the first time after assuming the duties of the Head of State on Tuesday (July 28).
He reached Bangabhaban at around 11 am, where he was welcomed by a police cavalry contingent. Later, the President Guard Regiment (PGR) presented him with a guard of honor according to official protocol.
After the formal reception, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed went to his office at Bangabhaban and met with senior officials. During the meeting, the President’s Military Secretary and Public Affairs Secretary briefed him about the various activities and administrative functions of Bangabhaban.
Later, the Acting President visited different areas of Bangabhaban.
Earlier, following the resignation of Md. Shahabuddin from the presidency, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed assumed the responsibilities of Acting President. According to constitutional provisions, he will continue performing the duties of the President until a new President is elected.
Although he has started carrying out official responsibilities, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed will continue staying at the Speaker’s official residence in Parliament and will conduct his regular activities from Bangabhaban when required.
