Dhaka, Jul 24 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in 13 regions of the country. Authorities have advised river ports in the affected areas to display warning signal number 1.

According to the weather forecast issued for the country's inland river ports from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Friday (July 24), rain or thunderstorms with wind speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour may occur in several regions.

The affected areas include Rajshahi, Pabna, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar.

The BMD said winds may blow from the south or southeast direction during thunderstorms, and river ports in these areas have been instructed to maintain caution by hoisting local warning signal number 1.

Meanwhile, the weather office has also predicted that Dhaka and its surrounding areas may remain partly cloudy to cloudy for the next six hours from 7:00 am on Friday. Rain or thunderstorms are also likely during this period.

The meteorological department has advised people, especially those involved in river transport, to remain alert during the period of adverse weather conditions.
